Title: Low energy source for seismic operation

Abstract: A lightweight, mobile, low-energy seismic source comprises an industrial shotgun, having a solid projectile combined with a base structure to support the gun in a substantially vertical position, slightly above the surface of the earth. The muzzle velocity of the projectile is sufficiently high that it can provide up to 9,000 foot pounds of energy impacting on the earth, which is comparable to that of some of the larger weight drop machines. Wheels or carrying bars can be provided for manual transport of the source.
