Title: Connecting rod bearing arrangement

Abstract: A bearing arrangement for a connecting rod big end journalled on a crankshaft pin, for lubrication by splash or mist. Adjoining the cylindrical journal on the crankshaft pin and the rod big end, facing generally planar surfaces on the crankshaft and the rod big end have a pattern of shallow lubricant pumping grooves to provide a constant, reliable flow of oil through the bearing. At the opposite end of the connecting rod plain bearing, other plane surfaces may provide either draining grooves or grooves which pump oil outward to an axial bearing surface.
