Title: Device for a sight

Abstract: An apparatus for viewing a target and directing a laser guide beam at the target. A movable scanning mirror is employed to direct the laser guide beam at the target and to direct visible light from the target to an optical sight for viewing a corresponding image of the target. The scanning mirror also reflects infrared radiation from the target to an infrared receiver that generates corresponding electrical signals to produce a visible image of the infrared radiation of the target on a cathode ray tube. A symbol generating means is provided to generate an alignment mark for the imaged infrared radiation. The relative position of the alignment mark with respect to the image of the infrared radiation is determined by the position of the movable scanning mirror and the associated axis of the guide beam. The image of the infrared radiation and the associated infrared alignment mark are passed to the optical sight for viewing in order to aid in directing the laser guide beam at the target under conditions of reduced visibility.
