Title: Process for eliminating metal ions from a metal ion-containing liquid with solid chelate resins

Abstract: Metal ions, for example, heavy metal ions, alkaline earth metal ions and aluminium ions are eliminated by bringing a liquid containing the metal ions into contact with a special chelate resin in which chelating carboxylic anion groups are associated with basic amino acid cations, for example, lysine, ornithine, histidine, arginine, .alpha.,.beta.-diaminopropionic acid, .alpha.,.gamma.-diaminobutyric acid, L-citrulline and .delta.-oxylysine.
