Title: Television signal processing circuit for correcting amplitude distortions

Abstract: Distortion introduced into a black and white or color television signal by for example private television repeaters or boosters in the input to a television receiver, particularly amplitude compression, is compensated by a signal processing circuit which detects distortion in the horizontal part of the black and white component of the received signal and generates a correcting signal. This correcting signal controls the gain of a variable gain amplifier, through which only the part of the received television signal including line, raster or color synchronization information is fed, the complete television signal being subsequently reconstituted after compensation of the first part.
