Title: Base material for artificial leather

Abstract: A base material for artificial leather having a water vapor absorption capacity of from 2 to 8% by weight, based on a fibre fleece impregnated with a rubber latex mixture containing a heat sensitizer, a quick-acting vulcanization accelerator and, as expanding agent, a silicone oil emulsion or an inert, emulsifiable substance which is insoluble both in the rubber and the other constituents of the latex. After the impregnation of the fibre fleece, the latex mixture is coagulated by heat, vulcanized and then dried.
