Process for the manufacture of overbased magnesium sulfonates
Abstract:
Process for preparing overbased magnesium sulfonate dispersions by hydrating at an elevated temperature a magnesium compound in the presence of an inert diluent, an alkanol, a sulfonic acid comprising a neutral ammonium sulfonate, and water, removing the alkanol and the displaced ammonia, and contacting the resulting mixture with an acidic material at a temperature of about 80.degree. F to 155.degree. F.
