Title: Method and apparatus for mass analysis by multi-pole mass filters

Abstract: An ionized substance to be analysed is applied to a quadrupole filter that establishes stable and unstable ion trajectories dependent upon the potential applied to the poles. Varying this potential determines which mass line spectrum will be transmitted to an analyser at the output of the filter.
