Title: Molds for the continuous casting of metals

Abstract: In order to reduce stresses applied to mold sleeves and arbors during explosive forming of tubular copper molds for continuous casting of metals, forming is carried out by applying and detonating in turn successive groups of peripherally spaced explosive charges extending longitudinally of the exterior of the mold, the charges being placed so that at least one charge is detonated adjacent each portion of the external surface of the mold.
