Abstract: N-(perfluoroacyl)-N-phosphonomethyl glycine compounds are prepared by the reaction of N-phosphonomethyl glycine with perfluoroacyl anhydrides employing an excess of the perfluoroalkanoic acid as the solvent. The N-(perfluoroacyl)-N-phosphonomethyl glycine compounds are useful as post-emergent herbicides and as sugar cane ripeners.
