Title: Method for stabilizing a superconductor

Abstract: A method for stabilizing a superconductor of the type having at least one core which is entirely or partly of an intermetallic superconductive compound and which is provided with a sheath of an alloy which contains an electrically normal-conducting metal and an element of the compound, in which the element of the compound contained in the sheath is removed from the sheath, at least partially, by a chemical transport reaction to obtain electrical stabilization of the superconductor.
