Abstract: An adjustable lamp stand having a column rotatable about a base to a selected inclined position as desired by the user. The column is vertically adjustable in height. The base includes a plurality of legs pivotally attached to the column by a continuous brake friction joint. Lamp retaining means disposed on the column releasably hold a portable lamp. The lamp stand can be used in a generally vertical position or in a prone position or can be supported between spaced apart relatively horizontal or somewhat inclined surfaces. The stand is collapsible into a compact portable unit for easy transport and storage.
