Abstract: A furnace wall assembly is described, which is characterized by a U-shaped channel member spacing apart inner and outer furnace wall panels, said member having on its base at least three staggered, longitudinal rows of slits, the metallic edge or edges of which are displaced with respect to the plane formed by the base of the channel.
