Abstract: The invention concerns a temperature compensating bearing for a shaft in which an expandable helical ceramic member is provided between the shaft and the bearing housing. The expandable helical ceramic member functions by expanding and contracting sympathetically with any changes in shaft diameter due to change of temperature of the bearing.
